Oblates, former students, family and friends of St Mary’s Seminary gathered at the St John Vianney’s parish to mark the 50th Anniversary of the opening St Mary’s Seminary. The celebration then moved to St Mary’s for a period of reminiscing and sharing, looking through old photos and publications before a meal and formalities.
At 2pm there was an official welcome by Fr Christian Fini OMI, current Superior of the Community, followed by speeches from Fr Leo Mifsud OMI, the Australian Provincial; Fr Austin Cooper, OMI founding Rector and Jos Hensing former student.
The formal speeches held in the main chapel at St Marys where followed by Benediction as a way to give thanks for the last 50 years and pray for the next 50 years of formation in our Province.
St Marys Seminary has lasted 50 years thanks to many prayers from generous benefactors, most significantly MAMI supporters. I am confident we can rely on your prayers and support for the next 50 years which will undoubtedly be filled with many new exciting opportunities and challenges.
