At the beginning of 1950 the pace of development accelerated. A residence was purchased at 649 Burke Road, Camberwell, a Melbourne suburb. This was to be a `mission house' where the preaching staff would reside, thus avoiding the inconvenient distance to Sorrento. The residence at Camberwell has continued to serve as the residence of the Provincial, the Director of the Missionary Association and several Oblates engaged in special duties.
